Care to float in  a glass cube?

- Mid-Day

Sample Image
Just a few years ago, holographic images were confined to science-fiction novels, but now, a company called Crystal Mirage can engrave your holographic image inside glass and crystal cubes, for as little Rs 250

Using a technique called lazer crystal engraving, Crystal Mirage can engrave two or three-dimensional images of you inside a glass block of your choice. "Two-dimensional images can be created from any family photograph you give us," explained Smita, the saleswoman at Crystal Mirage's counter at Orchid City Centre Mall, "but for a 3-D image, our photographer will need to take a picture
of you."
How much? The price depends on the glass object you choose. Accordingly, a 2-D or 3-D image can cost as little as Rs 250, or as much as a couple of thousands. Keychains, for instance, would cost Rs 250, while pen-stands and card-holders would set you back by Rs 1,500. Paper-weights with three-dimensional images are priced at Rs 650 and above.
Flat-out fabulous: Two-dimensional images can be set into flatter blocks of glass or crystal, which would be ideal for card-holders, for instance. Three-dimensional images require a thicker object.
Crystal-clear Gifts: Check out Crystal Mirage's website (crystalmirage.net) to choose from a range of lazer-engraved products that would make interesting gifts. These include trophies, religious-motif-engraved-crystals and vases.
If you prefer to engrave a name, rather than have an image imprinted, that's possible too.
Service: Both salespersons at the Orchid City Centre counter of Crystal Mirage, were well-informed about the process and briefed us on range of goods we could pick, through some samples they had available.
